Can you promote in r/wordpress?

The place for news, articles and discussion regarding WordPress, the open source software. Wordpress.com-related questions should be posted to https://wordpress.com/forums/.

The short answer

Do not promote your product or solicit leads in posts or comments; instead provide helpful technical answers and, if appropriate, share an open-source project once via WordPress.org/GitHub following the [PROMO] requirement or use the dedicated r/WordPressPlugins subreddit.

What works here

  • Answer technical questions and participate in discussions without promoting services
  • Share a free open-source project once via WordPress.org or GitHub with title starting [PROMO]

What gets posts removed

  • Posting promotional content, ads, lead-gen messages, or commercial links in posts or comments
  • Sharing paid products, trials, affiliate links, job ads, or list-style plugin/theme roundups
  • Using URL shorteners or low-effort link-only posts

Where this comes from

View the current official rules on Reddit

No promotions of products or services

Posts/comments intended for promotion or advertising will be removed; paid plugins with free trials not allowed and plugin promotion directed to r/WordPressPlugins.

Limited open-source exception

Free open-source projects via WordPress.org or GitHub are permitted once and must have a title starting with [PROMO].

No affiliate links / no low-effort posts

Affiliate links and low-effort link-only posts are disallowed, so promotional links or solicitation will be removed.

Use other subreddits for commercial topics
