Can you promote in r/teenagers?

r/teenagers is the biggest community forum run by teenagers for teenagers. Our subreddit is primarily for discussions and memes that an average teenager would enjoy to discuss about. We do not have any age-restriction in place but do keep in mind this is targeted for users between the ages of 13 to 19. Parents, teachers, and the like are welcomed to participate and ask any questions!

The short answer

Don't post promotional messages or product links; engage organically in discussions, get mod approval for AMAs or charity streams, and follow Reddit's 10% self-promotion guideline if you must share non-commercial content.

What works here

  • general participation in discussions
  • limited, guideline-compliant advertising (per Reddit 10% rule)
  • AMAs with prior moderator approval
  • anonymous school surveys that follow data rules

What gets posts removed

  • direct sales, solicitations, or promotional campaigns
  • linking to crowdfunding or money-transfer platforms (GoFundMe, CashApp etc.)
  • posting promotions/giveaways that look like advertising
  • sharing personal contact info or DMing mods

Where this comes from

View the current official rules on Reddit

No Advertising or Crowdfunding rule

explicitly forbids links to money-sharing/crowdfunding and says trying to sell or advertise promotions will result in permanent ban

Sidebar advertising guidance

states advertising products/music is allowed only under Reddit's 10% self-promotion guideline and advertising is limited

AMAs require approval

AMAs must be pre-approved by moderators and verifiable, so planned promotional AMAs need mod sign-off

No personal info / survey restrictions

surveys are allowed only if anonymous and follow no-personal-information rules
