Can you promote in r/smallbusinessindia?

Every business starts small. A community for Indian small business owners! Ps. Please don’t use the sub as your personal store front

The short answer

Join as a regular contributor first, add value, follow the 9:1 rule, avoid links and direct solicitations, and disclose any affiliation if you mention your product.

What works here

  • Participate in discussions and answer questions
  • Occasional mention of your product/service as context (sparingly)
  • Coordinate with mods ≥5 days in advance for selling software/services

What gets posts removed

  • Using the sub as a storefront or posting primarily to drive traffic
  • Posting external links, social profile asks, or follow requests
  • DM-spamming members or siphoning users to other platforms

No personal advertising / 9:1 rule

The sub says don't treat it as a personal advertising platform and requires 9 non-promotional contributions for every 1 piece of your own content.

No targeted promotions or unsolicited outreach

Explicit ban on SEO/website builder/paid ads/social media/software promotions targeting users and DM spam; mod coordination required for selling software/services.

No external links or follow requests

Posts linking to external websites or social profiles and 'follow us' asks are disallowed to keep engagement on the sub.

No siphoning or data collection

Siphoning users off the sub or collecting user data through landing pages/forms is a serious offense leading to ban.

Limited product exceptions

Drop shipping discouraged unless it complements originals; permission/mod notice needed for certain brand content.
