Can you promote in r/residency?
Welcome to the Residency subreddit, a community of interns and residents who are just trying to make it through training! This is a subreddit specifically for interns and residents to get together and discuss issues concerning their training and medicine/surgery.
The short answer
If you are a founder, engage as a peer answering questions and offering non-commercial, value-first help without mentioning or linking to your product; if you must disclose affiliation, message the mods first.
What works here
- Respectful, residency-focused discussion
- Sharing non-commercial, on-topic resources when clearly useful (moderator-provided links exist)
- Participation from new/anonymous accounts (may be moderated/held)
What gets posts removed
- Self-promotion, advertising, soliciting customers, surveys or recruitment
- Posting links to your product or commercial website
- Using the subreddit to run promotions or gather leads
Where this comes from
View the current official rules on RedditNo personal agendas or spam
Rule explicitly forbids personal agendas or spam, which covers self-promotion and commercial solicitation.
No links for brigading / moderation of links
Sidebar forbids links/images used for targeted harassment and notes moderators curate links; posting external links for commercial purposes would be risky.
Resident-only focus
Subreddit is explicitly dedicated to interns/residents and disallows pre-med/medical student application questions, indicating a narrow topical scope (not for vendors).
Posts may be manually approved
New/anonymous accounts and posts may be delayed for review, so commercial posts could be removed.
