Can you promote in r/homelab?

Welcome to your friendly /r/homelab, where techies and sysadmin from everywhere are welcome to share their labs, projects, builds, etc.

The short answer

Help first — provide useful, detailed technical answers; if you mention your product/company do so briefly and transparently, avoid links or overt promotion, and contact mods before posting anything clearly commercial or a giveaway.

What works here

  • Answer questions with technical help and detailed lab context
  • Share non-commercial personal projects (follow software project rules)
  • Post builds, diagrams, tutorials with proper flair and research shown

What gets posts removed

  • Posting product ads, affiliate/monetized/referral links
  • Using the subreddit for lead generation, sales, or recruiting customers
  • Posting giveaways or AMAs without prior moderator approval

No Commercial Advertising

Monetized referral links, affiliate links, product/company advertising are disallowed; mods must be contacted for exceptions.

Sales & Offers redirected

Sales, offers, deals and price checks must be posted in /r/homelabsales, so direct selling here is not permitted.

Giveaways & AMAs need approval

All giveaways and AMAs must be vetted/approved by moderators before posting.

Non-commercial projects allowed with rules

Non-commercial personal projects are permitted but must follow all subreddit rules; software projects have specific posting requirements and flairs.

Community focus on detailed, helpful posts

Subreddit expects detailed homelab builds, research before asking, and non-low-effort content — favor helpful technical participation.
