Can you promote in r/helpdesk?

A community for IT help desk, service desk, and desktop support professionals, plus anyone working their way up through a tech career. Tickets, tooling, certs, interviews, and war stories. We are not affiliated with Reddit, Inc. and this is not Reddit's official help desk, so we can't help with Reddit accounts, bans, or the app (try r/help). Not for personal device troubleshooting either (try r/techsupport).

The short answer

Do not post promotional product information or links; engage as a helpful community member without mentioning your company — use the hiring post format only for real job listings.

What works here

  • Answer technical/helpdesk questions without promoting a product
  • Post on-topic discussions about IT support and careers
  • Post job openings using the required [HIRING] title format and details

What gets posts removed

  • Promoting your product, tool, or service or posting marketing content
  • Helpful-sounding posts that end with a link to something you built
  • AI-written answers that exist to deliver a product link

Where this comes from

No spam or self promotion

No AI-written promotion

Rule removes long AI-written answers used to deliver a link to a product and bans the account.

Hiring allowed with strict format

Real job openings are welcome but must follow the [HIRING] title format and include company, duties, requirements, pay range, and application method.

Scope is IT support professionals

Subreddit focuses on help desk/service desk/desktop support topics and career discussions — promotional/vendor recruitment outside hiring posts is disallowed.
