Can you promote in r/fantasywriters?
This subreddit is dedicated to those of us who are writing in the fantasy genre.
The short answer
Only mention your product/company briefly with clear disclosure and only in the Weekly Writer's Check-In thread (Wednesdays) or when directly relevant and non-commercial in comments.
What works here
- Participate normally in discussions and provide helpful, non-promotional answers
- Post about your own work only in the Weekly Writer's Check-In thread
- Disclose affiliation if mentioning your tool in a genuinely helpful, non-sales way
What gets posts removed
- Posting ads, solicitations, or recruiting customers anywhere
- Posting your product/project as top-level self-promotion except in the designated weekly thread
- Link-dumping, repeated promotional comments, or paid-service offers
Where this comes from
View the current official rules on RedditSelf-promotion limited to weekly thread
The rules say any posts or comments promoting one’s own work are restricted to the Weekly Writer's Check-In thread every Wednesday.
Paid services forbidden
Advertisements for paid services are strictly forbidden everywhere on the subreddit.
No promoting published works/showing off
Sidebar explicitly says 'No promoting your published works or posting just to show off,' limiting public founder pitches.
On-topic requirement
Top-level posts must relate to writing in the fantasy genre, so vendor posts must be directly relevant to writing help or critique.
