Can you promote in r/dropshipping?
Welcome! Discuss dropshipping here-- tips, strategies, questions, whatever!
The short answer
Reply publicly with helpful, non-sales-first information, clearly disclose your affiliation if mentioning your product, avoid 'inbox me' or private-first asks, and use the Marketplace flair for promotional posts (max ~1/week).
What works here
- Occasional promotional posts flaired as Marketplace (low volume)
- Helpful comment replies including resources or links when not affiliated or when allowed by link rules
- Providing transparent product/company info in public replies where disclosure is clear
What gets posts removed
- Posting frequent promotional content or multiple marketplace posts per week
- Saying 'inbox me', 'come inbox', or asking OP to PM before conversation
- Astroturfing, fake accounts, or inauthentic engagement
- Linking to affiliated content in ways disallowed by link rules or without proper flair/disclosure
Where this comes from
View the current official rules on RedditMarketplace flair allowed for selling at low volume
Selling services is permitted if flaired 'marketplace' and done at low volume (once per week max).
Private-first solicitations banned
Requests that someone message you first (e.g., 'inbox me') are treated as spam and will get an immediate ban.
Links allowed only under strict conditions
Links to external content are allowed only with specific flairs, non-AI content, and usually when poster is not affiliated (exceptions for Marketplace and comment help exist).
Astroturfing strictly forbidden
Inauthentic engagement or organized fake accounts result in bans and may lead to brand-level bans.
Expectation of community contribution
Members are expected to give back and not repeatedly request freebies or reviews; overuse may lead to removal/ban.
