Can you promote in r/dogadvice?

A subreddit for requesting advice on Dog behavior and husbandry. Any veterinary advice given is being given by individuals of unknown education and should be considered suspect.

The short answer

Reply publicly with helpful, non-promotional advice; do not mention your company, link to your site, ask for DMs, run surveys, or solicit customers.

What works here

  • Provide evidence-based dog care/training advice in public comments
  • Participate politely and on-topic
  • Share resources only if not promotional and within subreddit guidance (be conservative)

What gets posts removed

  • Posting links to your business, website, products, social media, or services
  • Soliciting private messages or asking to take the conversation off subreddit
  • Running surveys or market research without moderator approval
  • Promoting CBD or alternative diets (may result in ban)

No self-promotion or advertising

Rule 3 explicitly prohibits promotional content, linking to business/sites, products, professional services, social media, and says surveys require mod approval.

Do not solicit private messages

Rule 5 forbids soliciting private messages and asks that help be shared publicly so mods can monitor for unsafe advice.

Content must be on-topic and non-harmful

Rules 1, 2, 7, 8, 9 and 13 restrict harmful training methods, demand politeness and evidence-based info, and ban unsafe or misinformation (including raw diets and certain cannabis/CBD promotion).
