Can you promote in r/backcountry?

Reddit's OG off-piste sub for all things backcountry skiing/splitboarding. Those two, non-detachable low speed quads are the best season pass you'll ever own. We encourage posts re: human powered uphill/downhill shralping, TR's, pics, bc gear, avalanche tools/techniques/training/technology Mech. assisted tours into the bc, (Sidecountry, snomo, cat & heli bumps) sometimes accepted. Slowshoeing, lift access, your recent park footy, mountaineering & non-snow wilderness adventures, not here.

The short answer

Participate as a normal member first, give helpful, non-promotional answers, optionally disclose your affiliation briefly if directly relevant and avoid pitching or soliciting business.

What works here

  • organic recommendations for courses/outfits/orgs
  • narrative/dialogue about projects or academic work (non‑survey)
  • gear/avalanche tools/technique discussion when relevant

What gets posts removed

  • overt marketing, advertising, or outreach by companies/guides
  • posting surveys or solicitations
  • hawking products, merchandise, or recruitment of customers

Sidebar rule forbids marketing products, pushing paintings, or slinging t-shirts, reinforcing a ban on commercial posts.

Recommendations allowed with limits

Recommendations for courses/outfits/orgs are explicitly OK, indicating useful, non-commercial help is acceptable.
