The short answer

Answer helpfully as a community member, clearly disclose your affiliation, avoid promotional language or direct solicitation, do not post monetized/referral links, and ensure your reply directly addresses the question.

What works here

  • Answer technical or practical questions relevant to photography
  • Post links/images if directly relevant to the question (non-monetized)
  • Participate as a regular commenter if not overtly promotional

What gets posts removed

  • Posting promotional / salesy content or solicitation
  • Sharing referral/affiliate/monetized links
  • Making posts that are not phrased as questions or not properly flaired
  • Posting critique/feedback requests (use r/photocritique instead)

Where this comes from

View the current official rules on Reddit

Relevant links/images allowed

The rules permit links or images only when they are relevant to the question being asked, so helpful, relevant resources (non-monetized) are acceptable.

No monetized links

Monetized or affiliate links are explicitly banned, so avoid any links that generate revenue.

No spam

Spam is disallowed and includes posts that go against the subreddit's purpose, which covers unsolicited vendor advertising.

Question format required

Post titles must be questions and end with '?', so if you start a thread to engage, format it as a question and use appropriate flair.

No critique requests

Requests for critique belong on r/photocritique, so avoid positioning replies as solicitations for user work or feedback.
