Can you promote in r/advice?

This is a place where you can ask for advice on many subjects. Everybody has issues that they run into, and everyone needs advice every now and again. This is Reddit's very own solution-hub.

The short answer

Do not attempt to market, solicit, post product links, or recruit; only participate by offering unbiased, helpful advice as a regular commenter without mentioning your product/company.

What works here

  • Providing free, non-commercial advice in comments
  • Answering questions directly relevant to the OP's situation
  • Posting within the two-posts-per-day limit

What gets posts removed

  • Any self-promotion, product or company mentions, or links
  • Posting surveys, research/interview requests, or recruitment
  • Advertising, referral links, or solicitation

No self-promotion or advertising

Rule 9 explicitly states 'No self promotion of any kind' and 'No advertising of any kind, including posting referral links.'

No external links in posts

Rule 9 says 'Do not put any external links in your post', which restricts linking to products or signup pages.

No surveys or research requests

Rule 9 forbids asking for survey/research/interview participation, blocking lead-gen activities.

Posts must be requests for advice

Rule 2 requires posts to ask for advice and disallows fundraising or petitions, so promotional posts won't fit the sub's purpose.
