Can you promote in r/acting?

This is a Subreddit where anyone and everyone who is interested in the art of Acting meet up. Here, we are a community, a family of users who help each other, share interesting topics and from time to time, organize AMA's!

The short answer

Reply helpfully to requests, disclose affiliation if relevant, avoid links/promotional wording unless a mod-approved thread or the OP asked for referrals.

What works here

  • Answer questions about technique and the craft
  • Give referrals when someone asks (mention teachers/classes/services)
  • Post hiring opportunities if specific and fair (no unpaid for-profit casting)

What gets posts removed

  • Posting unsolicited links/ads for your product, app, class, or service
  • Creating posts/accounts that mainly promote your content
  • Promotional posts requesting feedback or market research

No unsolicited links/ads

The rules explicitly ban unsolicited links/ads for classes or services and allow mentioning classes/teachers only when someone asks for referrals.

Spam/self-promotion block

Accounts whose activity mainly promotes their own content/services are treated as spam.

No app promotion

The subreddit expressly forbids posts that market, request feedback, or promote apps/tools.

Hiring allowed with conditions

Hiring posts are welcome if they are specific and for-profit projects must pay actors; unpaid for-profit posts are not allowed.

Referral exception

Moderators encourage mentioning specific classes & teachers or services when someone asks for referrals.
